OK, COD Nation, time to get down to business. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is coming soon, and from everything we’ve seen so far from Treyarch and co-dev studio Raven Software, this isn’t just another yearly release – it’s a game that looks set to be among the most influential in the franchise’s long history. If you were impressed by Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, we hope you’re ready, because here comes Black Ops 7 going absolutely wild with some future.

The Campaign: A Time Jump and a Villain Gone Bad

So, first thing’s first: Let’s break down the story. It’s official, we’re going to 2035 – a decade removed from the Black Ops 2. Perhaps, I realize that the timeline in this series is wild, but trust me, here’s where it gets good.

The new campaign thrusts us into the boots of David “Section” Mason, one of BO2‘s protagonists and current leader of a JSOC unit known as “Specter One.” Their mission? To find out why one of the series’ most memorable villains, Raul Menendez appears to have resurfaced. Is he actually alive, or if this is some mind-bending digital ghost, the suspense remains.

The campaign will deliver the signature Black Ops psychological warfare, now featuring a new adversary who “weaponizes fear.” Oh, and in a move that’ll get the community talking, the entire campaign is fully co-op enabled for the first time since Black Ops 3. Round up your crew because this is going to be a journey.

Multiplayer : Fast, Frenetic, and Futuristic

For the multiplayer set — and let’s be real, that’s a big portion of what makes Call of Duty the game you’re playing late into the night instead of sleeping— Black Ops 7 is getting ready to drop some heat.

Omnimovement Redux: The complete omnimovement system from Black Ops 6 is back, and it’s said to be even more fluid. ” Look for wall-jumps, a more tactical vibe and lots of vertical combat. It sounds like they’re double-dipping in the near-future setting to facilitate more agile and dynamic movement.

The Maps: We’re receiving an absolutely colossal 18 maps from the outset, and will see that familiar, classic Treyarch style of close-quarters three-lane action. Early glimpses of maps such as Cortex and Imprint show a colourful, almost sci-fi world that is a refreshing change from the endless military shooters to have bombarded us in recent years.
